Vava'u Adventures, Ltd. & the Aquarium Cafe & Internet
After leaving San Francisco aboard s/v Waking Dream in 2002, owners Ben & Lisa saw quite a few eastern pacific ports between North America and Tonga, but fell in love with Vava'u and have been here since 2004. Having a pretty good idea of what the cruising community likes to do while in port, they've set up Internet & WiFi, a Cafe serving awesome espresso coffees (100% Costa Rican Arabica!), thick & yummy milkshakes, fresh smoothies & meals and more, Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Kart Safari guided island tours, sailing dinghies, a TongaSphere site, booking access to all activities like Tongan Feasts, Diving & Whale Watching, 11 cyclone moorings for hire, yachtie information services, hot showers, and a relaxed atmosphere! Located in the blue building on the southern-end of the waterfront. Be sure to stop in with any questions or to just have a chat!

MOORINGS & ANCHORING IN NEIAFU HARBOUR
Yachts can hire moorings on both sides of Neiafu Harbour. If you choose to anchor instead, please do so far enough away from any moorings. On the western-side there are some good anchor spots toward the north. On the eastern-side there is plenty of room more to the south. Moorings rent for approx TOP$15 per night. Weekly and monthly rates may be arranged with mooring companies. Please note that every mooring in Neiafu Harbour belongs to someone! Many are not properly marked. If you don't know who it belongs to, be very wary of picking it up! Not only could the owner's boat come back and expect to find it free, but you have no idea how it's maintained or what's holding the bouy there... could be not much of anything! Four operators also rent Cyclone Moorings for the cyclone season. Neiafu Harbour is very well protected & many insurance carriers will write riders. Monthly rates during cyclone season vary by operator.

DRESS AROUND TOWN
The Tongan culture is very conservative when it comes to dress. Out of respect, please do not dress too skimpily while in town. It's most appropriate for shoulders and knees to be covered, but not so strict. Guys, please do wear a shirt! Girls, you too - no bikini tops in town!
HIKES
The view from the top of Mt. Talau is not to be missed. Great for gaining some top-down perspective! Hike to the top from the trail head takes about 5-10 minutes. Can be slippery when wet. Hand-rails on parts of the trail. Trail head is about a 15-20 minute walk up-hill from town.
